Effective August 15, 2011 eOption will begin passing through index option exchange fees. The additional cost to trade select index options is listed below. These fees will be charged in addition to eOption's standard commission schedule.

Options Regulatory Fee (ORF) Close Options Regulatory Fee (ORF) With an effective trade date of January 3, 2012, the Nasdaq OMX PHLX has updated the ORF from $0.0035 to $0.0040 per option contract. Additionally, the Nasdaq Options Market (NOM) also implemented a fee of $0.0015 per option contract. This new fee was also effective as of trade date January 3, 2012. The new rate for the ORF is the combined amount of fees as follows: Boston Stock Exchange (BOX) - $0.0030 per contract; Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) - $.0045 per contract; International Securities Exchange (ISE) - $0.0035 per contract; NASDAQ Options Market (NOM) $0.0015 per contract; NYSE ARCA - $.0040 per contract; NYSE AMEX - $0.0040 per contract; NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX) - $0.0040 per contract. The combined rate for the ORF will be $0.0245 per contract with no minimum per trade. SEC Transaction Fee Close SEC Transaction Fee - New Rate Effective 1/21/2011 On December 28, 2010, the Section 31 Fee increased the rate applicable to specified securities transactions on the exchanges and in the over-the-counter markets from $16.90 per million dollars to $19.20 per million dollars for fiscal year 2011. Since October 1, 2010, the SEC has been operating under a continuing resolution for fiscal year 2011. The new rate is to take effect on settlement date January 21, 2011. Please refer to the SEC Advisory for more information. How to Calculate: Multiply the sale/principal amount of the transaction by the fee rate. Truncate at the seventh place after the decimal point. Short Stock Hard to Borrow Fee Close Short Stock Fee Based on the recent changes to the short stock rules and increased difficulties to borrow stock, our clearing firm, Penson Financial Services will be passing on charges for shorting stock that they must locate outside of their firm. These stocks are typically called hard to borrow securities. The fees can be charged daily and posted to the customer’s account the following business day for settled positions. The formula for the Hard to Borrow fee (HTB) is the rate times the principal value divided by 360 to come up with the daily charge. The principal value of the security is calculated by taking the securities price at the end of the previous trading day then multiplied by 1.02%, the figure is then rounded up to the nearest dollar amount. Trading Activity Fees (TAF) Close Trading Activity Fees (TAF) Trading Activity Fees (TAF) are passed through to customers as part of normal transaction processing. Effective March 1, 2012, the Trading Activity Fee (TAF) rate for sales of covered equity securities will increase from $0.00009 per share for each sale of a covered equity security to $0.000095 per share, with a corresponding increase to the per-transaction cap for covered equity securities from $4.50 to $4.75. The new rate will apply to any sale of a covered equity security subject to the TAF occurring on or after March 1, 2012. The text of the new rule is available in the online FINRA Manual. The FINRA (TAF) for option sales is currently $0.002 per contract and fees for covered debt securities are $0.00075 per bond, with a maximum assessment of $0.75 per trade (based on 1,000 bonds). As an industry transaction standard, FINRA levies a Trading Activity Fee (TAF) on the sale of covered securities pursuant to Section 1 of Schedule A to the FINRA By-Laws. Covered securities include: 1) all exchange registered securities wherever executed (other than bonds, debentures, and other evidence of indebtedness), 2) all other equity securities traded otherwise than on an exchange, 3) all security futures wherever executed, 4) all “TRACE-eligible securities” wherever executed, provided that the transaction also is a “reportable TRACE transaction,” as these terms are defined in Rule 6210; and (5) All municipal securities subject to MSRB reporting requirements.
