Top 20 Options Traded

at eOption in June 2022

July 5, 2022

There was very little good news for long investors last month.  Markets continued their slide in June with the NASDAQ and S&P firmly in bear territory as we finish the worst H1 since 1970.  Nasdaq ended down over 10%, S&P down over 9% and Dow down over 7% in the month.   The debate continues on expectations over a slow economy vs a recession.  Major commodities (metals, oil and lumber) costs seem to have topped out.    Options traders could make hay in the volatile markets, but many long traders are searching for the market bottom and time to put cash back to work.

Here is a chart comparing relative ETF performance of the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P for June

Chipotle (CMG) retains the #1 position last month.  Techs (AAPL, AMZN, MSFT, META) remain the popular trade as NASDAQ stocks found new 52-week lows.   Chip stocks (AMD, NVDa, QCOM) get crushed as supply chain issues turn into an expected glut.  Coinbase continues to crater along with crypto prices.

Royal Caribbean (RCL) gets cut in half in 2022 with earnings expectations not looking for a recovery.
