After a strong Tuesday for U.S. stocks, surging in the final minutes of trading to close at the best levels of the day, U.S. futures are looking little changed, down slightly for the S&P around 4,460, but holding again above its key 200-day moving average support of 4,450 as markets await a busy day ahead for economic data. January Import/Export prices, Jan Retail Sales, Industrial Production NAHB Housing and Business Inventories for December all on the calendar. U.S. major averages snapped a three-day losing streak yesterday on apparent easing tensions between Russia and the Ukraine as Russian defense minister said they had pulled back some troops from the border. The news overshadowed another higher inflation reading (PPI data) in the U.S., a common theme over the last month which has triggered forecasts of as many as five rate hikes between now and the end of the year by the Fed to cool prices. Britain recorded the fastest inflation since 1992 last month, at 5.5%, a tally that all but ensures that the Bank of England will raise rates again — for the third time since December. Cryptocurrency-exposed stocks rallied as Bitcoin extended its recent rebound back above the $44,000 level. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index surged nearly 600 points or 2.2% to 27,460, the Shanghai Index rises +0.57% to 3,465, and the Hang Seng Index gains 363 points or 1.49% to 24,718. In Europe, the German DAX is little changed at 15,415, while the FTSE 100 is down about -20 points to 7,590.
