U.S. stock futures trading in a narrow 20-point range overnight (4,022.50 high and 4,004 low) after the Fed delivered a +75bps hike and a statement about as close to expectations on Wednesday, easing investor fears. Markets also bracing for one of the biggest earnings days of the quarter with Apple and Amazon after the bell tonight. Stocks soared on Wednesday after the Fed delivered a +75bps hike, in-line with expectations, easing investors’ concerns that the Fed is no longer behind the curve. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said the central bank would make upcoming rate decisions by considering each move “meeting by meeting.” The reaction in stocks was slow at first before surging into the bell in a broad-based rally. The headlines help offset generally mixed earnings results. Overnight saw more mixed outlooks with BBY guiding year comp sales lower, META posting its first y/y revs decline and QCOM also issuing a cautious outlook. A busy day of economic data with Q2 GDP estimated to rise +0.6% on higher core prices and weekly jobless claims. Solar and alternative energy stocks rise after Senator Joe Manchin and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer struck a deal on a $369 billion energy-climate plan. The yen rallies to near 135.40/USD as traders dial back most aggressive Fed rate hike bets. Treasury 2-year yield eases to around 2.99% and 10-year yield hovers near 2.78. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index rose about 100-points to 27,815, the Shanghai Index edged higher 6 points to 3,282, and the Hang Seng Index dipped -47 points to 20,622. In Europe, the German DAX is down about -15 points to 13,150, while the FTSE 100 is down a few points to 7,340.
