U.S. futures looking mixed with the Dow and S&P looking flat to up slightly while the tech heavy Nasdaq is pointing to a lower open amid weakness in semiconductors after reports that the U.S. is considering new curbs on AI chip exports to China. Shares of NVDA and AMD are among the early decliners following the WSJ report. Markets will be keeping an eye on Sintra in Portugal, where the European Central Bank is holding its annual forum on central banking, including at 9:30 AM ET a panel containing Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell, alongside the heads of the U.K., eurozone and Japan central banks. Meanwhile tonight at 4:30 PM, the Fed releases Stress Test results for the banks. U.S. stocks jumped on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 scoring its best daily gain in almost two weeks as technology shares climbed and housing data pointed to continued resilience in the U.S. economy, despite the Federal Reserve’s sharply higher interest rates. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.7% pacing the gains as the technology, communications, and consumer discretionary sectors led yet again. Stocks appear poised to resume a tech-fueled rally that has the S&P 500 up 14% on the year so far and the Nasdaq about 29.5% higher. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index surged 655 points to 33,193, the Shanghai Index was unchanged at 3,189, and the Hang Seng Index rose 23 points to 19,172. In Europe, the German DAX rises 131 points to 15,978, while the FTSE 100 is up 50 points to 7,512.
